I bought the Sonos ZonePlayer 90, the Sonos Bridge and the Sonos Controller 200 all at the same time, all from Amazon.com. The ZonePlayer 90 and the Bridge worked fabulously, within minutes, right out of the box. They were easy to connect and set up. The only fly in the ointment was that the Sonos Controller 200's display never displayed anything. I couldn't "wake it up" (a Sonos expression). I talked with Sonos and they said the only thing to do was to return it.

While it appears that I would not need the very expensive Sonos Controller 200 (by using my cell phone as a controller) I still wanted a back up controller, to my phone, and I really wanted to see if the Controller 200 would do more and respond more quickly than my cell phone. With the Sonos Controller 200, I probably got a 1 in 1000 bad unit. Bad luck on my part.

As for the Sonos ZonePlayer 90 and the Sonos Bridge, I have had both pieces of equipment working great for two days. If they continue to perform as well as they have so far then I am in audiophile heaven. It is like having a juke box to the world. If they continue to work over time with no problems then I am one really happy customer.

There's not a better system than the Sonos. I bought into the Sonos system about 3 years ago. I can't say enough good things about it. I've effortlessly added several new zones. With all that said, I upgraded to the new CR200 controller in December 2009. The new touch screen controller is an excellent improvement over the original controller; however I have had multiple problems with the controller and am now waiting for my 3rd replacement. The good news is that Sonos replaced the units at no charge and hopefully my next unit will work well. The mechanics are excellent and I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the defective units.

I didn't have an iPhone to use the remote app when I purchased a Sonos system, so I purchased the remote separately. It works well. The only issue I have had is with the battery. I had to replace the battery early on. I've had it about a year and still use it everyday and like it.

[Note: I also reviewed with this same text at BestBuy.com as I bought the actual speakers there]

We have a small 12-people company. We always struggled to have an easy way for everyone to play a bit of the music they love and share it with everybody.

We bought a pair of Sonos 5, alongside the wireless controller, and it's changed the mood on the entire office. Everyone gets to add to the queue therir own music, or tune Last.fm to their favorite artist. We even purchased a Spotify subscription which is great if you want to listen to a specific band or album. It was a very straightforward setup and everyone just uses their own laptops (with the desktop Sonos controller) to push music around the office.

We paired the two Sonos 5 in stereo mode, and later expanded the options with an Airport Express plugged in the Line-In of one of them. This allows employees to also push music directly using Airplay from their iPhones and Android (using DoubleTwist).

The synchronization of both channels is perfect, no lags or interference from wireless of any kind, even when our office is 100% wireless! Also, we never got to play it at top volume as it gets very loud (even with great quality). The office is about ~100 square meters, and it easily fills it all with music.

The instant mute option on either speaker is also great whenever the phone rings or someone has a conference call to attend. No more shouting "Someone please turn down the music!!!". You can even mute or lower the volume of the entire office right from your own laptop.

We don't use the wireless controller that much, actually, given that we're all sitting in our desks with our laptops and use the Desktop Controller software almost exclusively. However, at home (I also bought the same equipment) it's a different story altogether. When friends come home, they just pick the controller and start playing music they like. Everyone gets to replace or add songs to the queue, it's great fun! The most awkward combinations of songs for sure, but everyone enjoys it thoroughly.

Outstanding functionality, fun, and collaborative music playing. Great for work, great for home and parties.

I have 5 zones and 3 remotes. The CR100 was and is great. The CR200 (this one) has huge quality issues. Defective batches, either lack of sensitivity or hypersensitive. They never resolved the problems, some lucky customers got replacements, others were not but asked to perform resets and other things until the warranty ran out. (Full disclosure: I have never been a fan of sonos support or customer service. If you run into a snag, they have you jumping hoops to get the system working - logs, moving components, buying new and more expensive switches, resetting components, etc.)
Physical build of the product is really awesome - great quality. The sonos system delivers on multiroom audio - atleast once you have good networking and if needed wifi coverage. But the CR200 was and is terrible. Mine worked for something like 8-10 months and then started misbehaving. Too bad, because the function was really awesome - just that they never got the touch screen and its sensitivity right for many units.

Despite the very high price for this product (one could buy a netbook instead and load the Sonos desktop controller on it for the same price or less), the quality of the touchscreen is such that it failed after six months. Enquiry on the sonos forums indicates that this is a widespread problem with people having to return their unit two or three times.

I would not recommend purchasing this new controller from Sonos.

With the good exchange rate between the US$ and the A$ this is a bargain at A$420 delivered compared to A$699 in the shops in Australia.

Even though I could get the same functionality with an iPod the convenience of a dedicated controller is great for my house.
